Decorative Christmas Candies ( made from empty snuff cans)

My husband is a dipper. You can spare us all the “it’s horrible for your health” talks. He knows and I know, so there’s nothing you’d be telling us that we don’t already know. I hate the amount of money we spend on chewing tobacco so I wanted to create something with the snuff cans that made me feel a like some of that money was going back in our pockets. So this year, instead of spending tons of money on Christmas decor I’m using up some of these snuff cans! I have two amazing DIY’s using snuff cans and first up are these Decorative Christmas Candies.

Here are a few ways you can use these Decorative Christmas Candies:

  • Lay them in a decorative bowl with some pine.
  • Glue on a loop of twine and use them as a Christmas ornament.
  • Glue some into a piece of garland.
  • Tie to the front of a Christmas gift OR use as Christmas gifts!

Materials:

  • Empty Snuff cans ( If no one in your family chews snuff ask friends or co-workers.)
  • Fabric ( I found this beautiful red and white fabric with diagonal stripes at JOANN FABRICS. 1 yard will make about 12 candies)
  • Coffee ( Coffee dying fabric is optional)
  • Thin Twine
  • Rusty Jingle Bells ( 2 per candy)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks

How to:

Step 1: I don’t have a picture of this but you are going to want to wash those cans first! I just wash mine with regular dish liquid in the sink. Make sure snuff cans are completely dry before you begin.

Step 2: Cut material into squares that are about 7 1/2 in. X 9 1/2 in. Lay can in the middle of the material, brand-side up, and neatly glue material to the back (brand side) of the can. Think like you are wrapping a gift but don’t do anything with the ends yet.

Step 3: Cut two pieces of twine. Place a jingle bell on the twine and tie the twine around one end of the material bringing the jingle bell to the front and tie a bow. repeat this process with the other end.

That’s it! They are literally that simple to make! Enjoy! =)
