American Flag Welcome Banner
A few weeks ago I found this welcome banner in the Dollar section at Target for $3! I was thinking about putting it back, but for $3 I thought what the heck… so I threw it in the cart. I didn’t care for the print, but I knew I could do something cute with it. I’ve been seeing a lot of modpodge DIY’s lately, so I thought this would be the perfect craft for that. Since Memorial Day is this weekend I decided to go with a flag theme. I found the cute American flag napkins I’m using for this DIY at Big Lots. I love how this banner turned out! Let me show you how I made it!
P.S. When you get your banner check to make sure its spelled correctly before taking the time to modpodge your letters. My welcome sign had all the correct letters and a few extras as you can see in the photo above. I was so busy trying to take pictures I didn’t even realize I had extra letters until I started modpodging!
- Banner ( I bought this welcome banner at Target for $3!)
- Napkins ( I only used 2)
- Paint brush
- small screw driver or toothpick
Step 1: First, cut the twine and remove all the letters. Make sure to cut the twine at the end so you can re-use it when finished.
Step 2: Next I cut my napkins to the size of my letters and modpodged it on. I then used my scissors to cut off any excess napkin, folded it around the edges of the letters, and secured with modpodge. Allow to dry for an hour or so.
Step 3: Once all the letters were dry, I used this small screw driver to poke out the already pre-drilled holes. After poking the wholes I threaded the letters back on the twine and tied a loop at each end. I recommend seeing where you want to put the banner before cutting the twine down and adding the last loop.
