DIY Primitive Snowman Craft Tutorial
Do you love the cute rustic snowman look? I found this sparkly snowman base at Hobby Lobby and when I came home I accidentally spilled soda on it. I decided to turn my mess into a masterpiece! Follow along for this Primitive Snowman Craft tutorial! Let’s get started!

Supplies:
- White sparkly snowman base from Hobby Lobby
- Instant coffee and water mixture in a spray bottle
- Fabric
- Twine
- Air dry clay
- Orange Paint
- Blush and q-tips for applying
- Small rustic bells
- Black permanent marker
- Faux greenery
- Mini pine cones
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
Step 1: Spray Coffee Mixture to start your Primitive Snowman
I thought I’d give it a primitive look to hid the little soda stains, haha. I took some water and mix it with a little bit of instant coffee (1-2 Tbs.), added it to a spray bottle and shook it up well. Then I sprayed the mixture all over my snowman and set it aside to dry.

Step 2: Make a Clay Carrot Nose
Next I took some air dry clay and molded a little carrot snowman nose and let it dry. You can get this at Walmart, any craft store, and I think Dollar Tree might have this too. Then I painted it with an orange acrylic paint, Toasted Terracotta, my favorite orange color.

Step 3: Make a Fabric Hat
Once that was done, I used some material to make a hat. I got this material at Hobby Lobby also. I folded it back a little to create a rim for the hat, wrapped it around the top of the snowman’s head and hot glued it in place.

Then I cinched it at the top and tied it with a little twine bow.

I trimmed off any excess twine and fabric to my liking.

Step 4: Wrap the Scarf
Next I took a fairly long strip of the same fabric and double wrapped it around the snowman’s neck to create a scarf. I like to double wrap it so he looks extra bundled up. To keep the rustic look, I like to rip the fabric on the grain line so it has a rough frayed look. I trimmed the ends of the scarf and frayed them a bit also. Normally when I go to Hobby Lobby and see some fabric that I like, I ask for half a yard of it so I have some extra for little projects like this.

Step 5: Add the Bells
Then I took some small rusty bells and punched in the top hanging part a bit with some scissors so they lay flatter and hot glued them in place down the snowman’s belly.

Step 6: Add Embellishments
I decided to add some embellishments to the scarf. I added a few sprigs of faux greenery from I garland I bought at Hobby Lobby and three little pine cones.

Step 7: Create the Face
Next, I used some blush and added some rosy cheeks to my snowman. Then I hot glued on that cute little clay nose that I made earlier. Lastly, I used a marker to add some dots for the eyes. I went over it a few times so they were nice and dark.

This project turned out so cute, from making a small spill with the soda into stylish rustic snowman! Let me know in the comments if you plan on giving this project a try!
