DIY Snowflake Postage Stamp Ornaments Tutorial
Hey friends! Is it too early for crafting ornaments? You know we love Christmas around here! Today we’re making these adorable snowflake stamp ornaments, and I am so excited to share them with you because they turned out so pretty!

I love the neutral farmhouse style of these ornaments with the dark background, rustic finish, and bright white snowflakes. They remind me of vintage postage stamps and would look beautiful on a Christmas tree, tucked into garlands, or even used as gift toppers.
Let’s get started!
Materials List
- Snowflake Stamp Ornament cutouts
- Waverly Chalk Paint: White, Truffle, Mineral
- Makeup sponge
- Sandpaper and/or Sanding block
- Dixie Belle Antique Wax
- Blending tool
- Hot glue gun + glue sticks
- Brown floral wire (ribbon or twine for hanging)
- Pen or marker (for curling wire)
Step 1: Paint the Backer Pieces
First, I painted the scalloped backer pieces using Waverly Chalk Paint in Mineral.
I used a makeup sponge to apply the paint because it gives such a nice smooth finish.
When the bases are covered, set those pieces aside to dry completely.

Step 2: Paint the Stamp Background Pieces of Your Ornaments
Next, I painted the center layer pieces with Waverly Chalk Paint in Truffle.
I wanted a soft neutral farmhouse look, and I thought the deeper brown would look beautiful paired with the white snowflakes.
This color combination really helps the snowflake stand out later.

Step 3: Paint the Snowflakes
Then, paint all of the snowflake pieces white.

I love the neutral farmhouse style, but one of the fun things about these ornaments is that you can customize them however you like!
Additionally, you could paint them:
- Bright Christmas colors
- Primitive farmhouse tones
- Metallic winter colors
- Traditional red and green
Make them fit your own decorating style!
Step 4: Sand Everything
Once all the paint is dry, lightly sand all the pieces using sandpaper and a sanding block.
This step gives the ornaments that soft rustic finish and helps reveal some of the layered texture.
We include a piece of sandpaper with our cutouts, but you can find sanding blocks at Walmart, Lowe’s, or most home improvement stores.
Step 5: Add Antique Wax
Next, use Dixie Belle Antique Wax and a blending tool to go over all the painted pieces.

This is one of my favorite steps because it instantly warms everything up and gives that aged farmhouse look.
Additionally, don’t forget to lightly offload the wax so you can build up the color gradually.

Step 6: Assemble the Snowflake Stamp Ornament Layers
Now it’s time to put everything together!
First, glue the center pieces onto the scalloped backers.

Then, glue the white snowflakes on top.

Look how pretty they are! The bright snowflake really pops against the darker background.
Step 7: Add the Hangers
Finally, create the ornament hangers using brown floral wire, ribbon, or twine.
If you choose wire, thread the wire through the holes at the top of the ornaments.

Try wrapping the wire around a pen to create soft curls and loops. Its fun and cute!
Tip: Make sure when assembling that the holes stay at the top so you can add your hanger later.
❄️ Finished Snowflake Stamp Ornaments

These ornaments turned out so cute and have such a cozy farmhouse Christmas feel!
I absolutely love the neutral colors, rustic distressing, and layered snowflake design. They would look beautiful on a tree, tucked into wreaths, or even tied onto Christmas gifts.
Now I just have to wait until Christmas to decorate with them! Let me know what you think and if you plan to give these a try!
