DIY Tomato Stake Fall Tree
I have been seeing these around everywhere lately and decided to try making one of my own. They are really easy to make and look so stinking cute! I wish I would have made one last year! I want to mention that in the photo above I made a mistake, I should have wrapped the lights on and THEN the Burlap ribbon. You can see how it looks a little funny with the lights going around the burlap.. Oops! Also, it will probably look a lot cuter once those mums beside it bloom 😉
What you will need:Â
- Tomato Stake
- 7-8 Packs of leaf garland from the Dollar Tree
- 6 yards of burlap Ribbon ( divided)
- 100 Count Amber Christmas Tree Lights
- Twine or wire ( To tie the bow on)
The how to:Â
Step One– First you will need a tomato stake. This is an old one I got from my pap.
Step Two –Â Tie a knot around the base of the tomato stake with one end of the leaf garland.
Step Three –Â Twist the leaf garland around the tomato stake tying new ones as needed, I used 8. You can use as many or as little as you like, I like a lot of leaves on mine.
Step Four –Â Start at the base of the tomato stake and wrap the lights around the tree. Make sure to start with the end that plugs into the wall.
Step Five –Â Next, Starting at the base of the tomato stake wrap the burlap ribbon around it. The ribbon I bought had wire in it and was easy to bend around the base to stay in place. If you don’t have ribbon with wire in it then I suggest using some wire or twine to secure the ribbon.
Step Six:Â Next, tie a bow and use a piece of twine or wire to secure it to the top. I do not know how to make these bows so I had my mom make one for me. This is actually her tree, I made mine a few days ago.
