I was trying to get some ideas together for next weeks DIY’s when I stumbled across this pizza pan. I was apparently going to use it for some other craft that I never got around to making. It just so happened that I had twine laying right near my pizza pan. So I put two and two together and came up with this super cute DIY.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about this DIY twine tray when I first finished. I thought it looked a little bland. But, all that it took to dress this up was a little greenery and a candle. Now I absolutely am in love with this tray. Although, I do wish I would have thought ahead and added some twine handles to it.
Materials:
- Round pizza pan from the Dollar Tree
- 3/8 in. Twine ( I bought 1 – 50 ft. roll at lowes and it was enough for this project plus I have some left over. )
- Hot glue gun and lots of glue sticks.
Step 1: I found that this works best if you start on the back side of the pizza pan. I didn’t worry about the bottom of the tray but I did want the underside that would be visible covered. I ran a bead of hot glue around the back rim and started to wind my twine around the tray. It took about 3 trips around with the twine until I got to the top, front rim.
Step 2: Once you get to the top rim just keep on gluing and wrapping your way around until you get to the middle.
Step 3: When you get to the middle, cut the twine so you have a hair extra. Put a dab of glue into the center and then use something like scissors to tuck and hold the end of the twine down.
