Dollar Tree Pumpkin Makeover

Dollar Tree Pumpkin Makeover

Pin Me! – Pinterest

If you see these pumpkins at your Dollar Tree you are going to want to grab one! This quick make over takes these from drab to fab in no time at all! Here’s how:

Materials:

  • Dollar Tree pumpkin
  • sanding block
  • card stock ( mine was just big enough to fit)
  • Ribbon & Raffia (both can be found at the dollar tree)
  • small piece of burlap
  • twine
  • green floral wire

Step 1: First I took a sanding block over the words so it didn’t come through the paper. Take off the metal leaf and save it for another craft.

Step 2: Coat the entire pumpkin, except for the stem, with Mod Podge. Lay the card stock over the Mod Podge so it evenly covers the pumpkin and gently press it down. Use your hands to gently press out any bubbles. Cut off all the extra paper. You don’t have to be perfect with the scissors, cutting just makes the sanding part a little easier.  Next, take a sanding block around the edge to take off any left over paper and clean up the edges.

For the stem, cut a piece of burlap in the shape of the stem and modpodge it on.

Step 3: The last step is to add a bow and some floral wire. I used the re-fabbed method for my bow. CLICK HERE FOR BOW TUTORIAL. For the floral wire, wrap it around a pencil to make it curly then attach it to the stem.

This next step is something I did but I’m not sure I’ll do it again this way. I took a strip of glue along the pumpkin lines and added twine. I think it looks super cute this way but it was hard to get on. When I tried to pull it up to fix it the paper ripped. I think it looks just as cute with out the twine but that’s totally up to you.
