Dollar Tree – Snowball pail
The other day while I was at Dollar Tree I saw these little white pails and knew they had to come home with me. Sometimes I grab something cute with no plan in mind, but not with these.. I knew exactly what I was going to do with them! I wanted to turn them into cute little snowball pails!
These little pails were so easy to make and are just plain adorable! I think they would be cute sitting on a small shelf or as a Christmas tree ornament. You wouldn’t even need to add a hook, just hang them by the handle! If you made a larger snowman and gave him stick arms, you could then take one of these pails and hang off of his arm. How cute would that be!!
This craft is so easy to make! Below you will find a list of materials needed to get started on this project. If you scroll all the way to the bottom, between the last two photos, you will find a link that will take you directly to my YouTube channel. From there you will be able to watch this craft craft tutorial. I would love for you to hit the subscribe button while your over there, friend!
Materials:
- mini pails – You can find these at the dollar tree in the baby shower section. They come 2 in a pack
- Small strip of fabric
- twine
- Black paper – I used a black gift tag that I found at the Dollar Tree
- white pom poms – Dollar Tree in the crafting section
- Piece of paper
- hot glue gun and glue sticks OR Mod Podge – Read step one for more details about this.
How to:
Step 1: Cut a small strip of fabric and hot glue or Mod Podge it to the front center of the pail. I said hot glue or Mod Podge because I used hot glue in my video, but I think Mod Podge may work a little better. When you hot glue something to metal it doesn’t always stick very well.
Step 2: Take the twine and wrap it around the top of the pail a few times. Make sure to hot glue as you wrap it or it won’t stick and will just slide down the pail. Trust me on this one, LOL.
Step 3: Next, take a piece of black paper and cut a small rectangle out. You want it to be slightly smaller than your material so you have a cute layering effect. For the black paper, I am just using a black gift tag that I found at Dollar Tree. You can sometimes find these at the Target dollar spot, too. They are a great item to buy and keep in your craft stash!
Step 4: Write the word snowballs on your tag using a white marker. Note, this is different than a chalk marker. I found the chalk marker wrote way too thick for this project. The marker I used was called a Galaxy fine point marker and I found it at Hobby Lobby. Hot glue the snowball tag to the center of the fabric on the pail.
Step 5: Ball up some paper and hot glue it to the bottom of the pail. This will help build up the the snowballs so you won’t have to use so many pom poms. Next, begin to hot glue the snowballs aka pom poms in the pail. Stacking them up will make them look super cute!
