Easy DIY Dollar Tree Pallet Snowman
I had a few of these pallets laying around in my craft stash from the Dollar Tree. We’re going to turn it into a adorable snowman! They make super cute home decor, table centers, and hostess gifts! Let’s get this Pallet Snowman tutorial started!
Materials You’ll Need:
- Wooden pallet
- Antique wax
- Paint: white, black, and orange
- White Sharpie Paint Effects marker
- Paint brush and foam painting pouncer
- Faux greenery and berries
- Small rusty bell
- Wooden snowman nose (from our Snowman Nose Pack HERE)
- Wooden snowflake (from our Christmas Embellishment Pack HERE)
- Scrap fabric
- Twine
- Scissors
Step 1: Apply Antique Wax to the Pallet
First, I took some Waverly Antique Wax, applying it with a baby wipe to this project. Give that a little dry. I like to use my hair dryer to speed things up.

Step 2: Dry Brush the Pallet with White Paint
Next, I used a chip brush (you can find them at Walmart or Lowe’s) and dry brushed white paint over the wood pallet.
To dry brush, dip your brush in the paint, off load a bit of the paint onto some paper towel and brush over your project. That will give it a nice rustic look. I like to use this Waverly Chalk Paint called “Plaster”. You can use any acrylic based white paint.

I used my hair dryer again to make sure it’s good and dry before moving on.
Step 3: Paint Orange on the Nose
Next I used some acrylic paint, Toasted Terracotta, my favorite orange paint to paint the nose. This is one of our noses from our Snowman Nose Pack. You can find them HERE.

Step 4: Sand & Apply Antique Wax to the Nose
Once that’s dry, I like to sand it and add a little Dixie Bell Antique wax to add a little rustic accent to the nose.

Step 5: Add a Hat
Next, we’re going to take some scrap fabric and make a hat. You can use whatever you have lying around. Old tea towels and socks with a pretty pattern make really good snowman hats too.
Add a line of hot glue about an inch up from the bottom of your fabric and fold the fabric over to create a the rim of the hat. Then, start to wrap the fabric around your pallet.

Step 6: Tack the Hat in Place With Hot Glue
Wrap the folded fabric around your pallet, folding the fabric over slightly to complete the hat. Hot glue it in place. Flip your project over and tack the front part of the hat to your pallet if needed.

Step 7: Tie & Finish the Hat
Next, I cut a piece of twine and tied it around the loose part of the fabric hat. I like to double knot it to hold it in place and then tie a bow. My fabric was a little long so I trimmed off some of the top.

Step 8: Create Rosy Cheeks
Next, I temporarily placed the nose in the center so I knew exactly where I wanted the rosy cheeks. Using a little rose blush, rub small circles onto the pallet. I like to add rosy cheeks because if they’re out in the cold, their cheeks would be rosy. I just think it’s cute! 🙂 The snowman’s face is starting to come together!

Step 9: Paint the Smile and Eyes
Next, we’re going to use a circle sponge paint pouncer and black paint to create the smile. I used the back end of the pouncer to paint perfect circles for the eyes. You can get these paint pouncers at Hobby Lobby, Walmart, or similar craft stores.

Step 10: Add Some Details
Next, I like to add a few details with my white Sharpie Paint Effect Marker ( Find them HERE on my affiliate link) by adding a few lines on the mouth and dots on the eyes.

Step 11: Hot Glue the Final Elements in Place
Hot glue the nose in place. Next, we’re going to add some cute accents to the edge of the hat. I used some faux evergreen sprigs and holy berries I got from Hobby Lobby.

I also added a little wooden snowflake (from our Christmas Embellishment Pack HERE) in the middle of the greenery and a little rusty bell to the bow to add the final details. Hot glue in place.

This project turned out so cute and was a lot of fun to make! Let me know what you think and if you plan to try it out too!
