Farmhouse Angel Décor Craft Kit Tutorial with Chippy Wood Look
If you love farmhouse angel décor and are looking for an easy way to achieve a chippy wood look, then you’re going to want to stick around for this craft tutorial and watch this video noted at the end! You can grab your craft kit base for this beautiful little Farmhouse Angel HERE in our shop. It doesn’t come with embellishments, but we send all the wood pieces for you to craft your own farmhouse style angel.

Supplies You’ll Need:
- Farmhouse Angel craft kit base
- Acrylic paint (vintage white, khaki, black)
- Sand Paper
- Wavery Antique Wax
- Blending tool
- Popsicle stick
- Scrap paper
- Faux pine branches
- Ribbon and strip of fabric
- Twine
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
Step 1: Paint the Farmhouse Angel Body
The first thing we’re going to do is paint the body of the angel with Vintage White by Folk Art. This is my go to white; I love this color! You can find it at Hobby Lobby or most craft stores. Apply a coat of that white paint to the angel body and make sure it’s nice and dry.

Step 2: Paint the Angel Wings
Next, paint the wings. I used a khaki paint by Apple Barrel that I got at Walmart. Paint one or two coats, then make sure it is nice and dry. And I use a blow dryer to speed up the drying process.

Step 3: Sand & Stain
Next, using Waverly Antique Wax, stain the base and the little rejoice sign and also the button that comes with this kit. You don’t have to stain the bottom part of the base because you won’t see that.

Step 4: Paint Chippy Wood Look
Next, to make the chippy wood look, take a popsicle stick and dip the long edge of it in some black paint and spread it on. Drag it across the angel body vertically. Make sure you test it on a piece of paper to get a feel for how much paint to load onto your popsicle stick. You can see how I offloaded some onto my paper below before I went onto my angel. Make sure to test it a few times before you do that. I believe I learned this technique from Booxie and Bow Tie.

Step 5: Add Antique Wax
So then once we’re done with that, then we’re going to go over to the angel wings with some sand paper, then scuff those up using some Antique Wax by Dixie Belt. I used a little blending tool for that. You can see how pretty this is looking already. Let everything dry well.

Step 6: Add Embellishments
Once everything is dry, it’s time to add some details and assemble your project. I added some faux pine to the neck of the angel and then tied some homespun fabric around it. I got this fabric at Hobby Lobby and I just ripped it into a little strip, wrapped it around the neck, and tied a little bow. Now that the bow was tied. I trimmed the extra ribbon down a little and pulled some of those the threads out to give it that rustic look.

Step 7: Tie “Rejoice” Tag
Next, I threaded some twine onto the “Rejoice” tag that comes with the kit and tied it around the bow and knotted it up at the top. Once you figure out how low you want it to hang, trim the excess twine.

Then hot glue the button to the center of the knot. I also glued the Rejoice tag in place.

Step 8: Glue Angel Wings & Stand Base
Lastly, glue the angel’s wings onto the body and the body onto the stand. Enjoy!
