Farmhouse crate made from a Pop Tart box
Farmhouse Crate made from a Poptart box
If you are like me, and love upcycled projects, then you will LOVE this one! I took a basic pop tart box and glued popsicle sticks around it to make this cute Farmhouse Crate. The possibilities are endless with this craft! You can paint or stain the crate any color you wish. You can also switch out the flowers to go with each Holiday. Let me show you how I made it.
Materials:
- Old box ( I used a pop tart box)
- Large popsicle sticks
- Hot glue gun and lots of glue sticks
- Paint ( I used white chalk paint)
- paint brushes
- Sanding block ( if you are going for the roughed up look)
- Antiquing wax ( if you are going for the roughed up look)
- plastic bags for fillers
- spanish moss
- flowers and greenery of your choice
- twine
How to:
Step 1: Cut the top off of the box so it is slightly shorter than the popsicle sticks.Paint the bottom of the pop tart box the color you want the box to be. I am using Waverly chalk paint in the color plaster. If you are afraid of the Pop Tart box showing through the sticks then I would go ahead and paint the entire box.
Step 2: Begin to hot glue the popsicle sticks around the entire box. When you get to the ends you can overlap them if they don’t fit.
Step 3: Paint the popsicle covered box the color of your choice. Once the paint dries take a sanding block over it to rough it up some. Then dip a new paint brush in antiquing wax, brush some of it off, and then begin to paint over the white until you get the look you are wanting.
Step 4: Once your box is dry you can begin to embellish. I stuffed a few plastic bags in the bottom of the box for fillers and then filled it with Spanish moss, flowers, and greenery.
