Since I was a little girl I have always had a thing for jars of any kind. I used to have a collection of them in the woods by my grams house.. they may even still be there! This love for jars has followed me right into adulthood. I love decorating with them! Let me show you how you can give a basic mason jar a farmhouse look simply by painting it! :

Materials:

  • Mason jar
  • chalk paint in the color of your choice
  • paint brush
  • sanding block
  • ribbon
  • raffia
  • greenery or florals
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks

Step 1: Apply two coats of chalk paint to the mason jar. Make sure you allow the paint to dry in-between coats. If you remember, I only added one coat of paint on my live. I found it looked much better when adding two coats.

Step 2: Once the paint is completely dry you can begin sanding the jar. You want to apply enough pressure to take SOME of the paint off but not so much that you take too much off.

Step 3: You can now begin to embellish the mason jar to your liking. I hot glued a bow with some raffia to the front of my jar. I then added some boxwood sprigs to my jar and stuffed Spanish moss around it. I found the boxwood sprigs at Walmart and I almost always buy my Spanish moss at the Dollar Tree.
