I found these cute canvas gift bags at Walmart the other day. I thought they were adorable and knew I wanted to do something with them. I decided to turn them into fun signs for Christmas. I plan on making myself one of these along with a few to handout as gifts. They are pretty easy to make once you get them centered. Let me show you how:

Materials:

  • Canvas Christmas gift bag
  • Paint Sticks
  • chop saw or a way to cut the paint sticks down
  • Cardboard
  • Mod Podge
  • Paint brushes
  • stain or paint for the paint sticks (frame)
  • Napkin if you use stain
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks

How to:

Step 1: First, lay the paint sticks over the canvas gift bag the way you want the frame to go. Make sure to center the picture. Mark the pain sticks and cut them with a chop saw.

Step 2: Next, Cut the bag around the seams so you have just the picture side of the gift bag. Save the excess for another craft! Mod Podge the gift bag onto a piece of cardboard that is the same size as the gift bag. You will have to cut this down. If you have a better way of doing this don’t be afraid to try it! This is just how I did it.

Step 3: Stain or paint the paint sticks to the color of your choice and allow them to dry (this is not done in this picture). Lay the paint sticks around the picture and center it. Trace along the paint sticks and cut any excess cardboard and fabric. Hot glue the paint sticks around the edge of the gift bag. And that’s it!
