How to create a budget-friendly reindeer ornament using a toilet paper roll
Have you ever made a craft and thought to yourself, I can’t tell if this is cute or the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen? That’s sort of how I felt about this craft. But the longer I looked at him, the cuter he began to look. Not only do I now think he’s cute, but he makes me laugh.. a lot. So today I will be showing you how to create a budget friendly reindeer ornament using a toilet paper roll.
Materials:
- Empty roll of toilet paper that has been disinfected
- Brown acrylic paint
- Coffee (optional)
- Mod podge (optional)
- Paint brushes
- Red pom pom
- Googly eyes
- Sticks
- Spanish moss
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
How to:
Step 1: Cut the toilet paper roll up the center so you have one square of cardboard.
Step 2: Starting on one of the corners, begin to roll the toilet paper roll until you have a cone shape. Make sure to glue as you are rolling so the toilet paper roll stays in place.
Step 3: Snip the top, wide part of the cone to make it even.
Step 4: Paint the cone with brown paint. You can leave it hear if you wish, but I am going to take it a step further in the next step.
Step 5: Working over a paper plate, paint the cone with mod podge and sprinkle on coffee grounds. Shake off the excess coffee grounds and allow to dry. Once dry, you can seal with another coat of mod podge. Allow to dry overnight.
Step 6: Hot glue some sticks in the top of the toilet paper cone. Add some Spanish moss and a cute bow.
Step 7: Hot glue the googly eyes in place.
Step 8: Hot glue the red pom pom on the point of the cone for Rudolfs nose.
Step 9: Finally, hot glue a clothes pin to the back of the cone so you can hang it on your Christmas tree.
