How to create a simple Dollar Tree flower pot decoration for spring

Today I will be showing you how to create a simple Dollar Tree flower pot decoration for spring using this cute paper! I’m not sure what it is about this blue floral scrap book paper, but I can’t get enough of it! It screams spring and I am in love with it! I even made a second trip to hobby lobby to grab a few more sheets of it… shhhhhh.

The majority of this project was made using supplies found at the Dollar Tree. This fun spring craft is so inexpensive and easy for crafters of any level. And, seriously, how pretty does that clay pot look against the blue floral scrap book paper.

Materials:

  • Glass candle stick – Dollar Tree
  • Wood crate – Dollar Tree
  • Mini flower pot – Dollar Tree
  • Florals – Dollar Tree
  • scrap book paper of your choice
  • white chalk paint
  • Crazy crow paint from @A Frayed Knot
  • paint bushes

Step 1: Paint both the candle stick and the crate with white chalk paint. You may need two coats on the glass candle stick. Allow to dry.

Step 2: Rough up both the candle stick and  crate with some sand paper.

Step 3: Next, use the crazy crow paint to give a rustic rust/chippy wood-like look. To do this, dip a paint brush in the crazy crow color and brush some off, then dry brush over the candle stick and crate.

Step 4: Trace the back of the crate onto the back of the scrap book paper. Cute the paper out and fit it in the crate. You may need to do a little more trimming. Once it fits, Mod Podge the the back of the crate and apply the scrap book paper. Press any bubbles out with your fingers.

Step 5: Hot glue the crate vertically to the candle stick.

Step 6: Hot glue the clay pot in the bottom of the crate. Add some florals and Spanish moss.
