HOW TO CREATE DOLLAR TREE DIY FALL DECOR

Today, I am going to share with you how to create Dollar Tree DIY fall décor.  Fall décor does not have to be expensive or complicated; this adorable DIY pumpkin made from some paint sticks and rope from the Dollar Tree proves just that.  I just love farmhouse décor, and this cute rope pumpkin is no exception.  This is a beautiful DIY for fall, but it is also a very budget-friendly DIY, which we all love!

Materials needed:

  • 12 paint sticks
  • stain ( I used min wax in the color dark walnut)
  • Old rag & gloves to apply stain
  • rope (dollar tree)
  • Spanish Moss
  • greenery
  • ribbon
  • hot glue gun & glue sticks

Step 1:  Take 9 paint sticks and line them up tightly next to each other.

Step 2:  Take another paint stick and lay it across the 9 paint sticks so you can see where it will need trimmed.  You will need to cut off about an inch or two of the paint stick so it fits across the top of the 9 paint sticks without sticking out over the edge.  This is going to be the back “support “of your craft.  Once you have the paint stick cut to the correct size, hot glue it across the 9 paint sticks, then take 2 more paint sticks and do the same thing, but hot glue one in the middle and one at the bottom.  This should secure all of the paint sticks together.  Flip over to the flat/front side.

Step 3:  Using an old cloth, stain the paint sticks using Minwax stain in the color “Dark Walnut.” Be sure to wear gloves when you stain.  Use a heat gun to dry the stain.

Step 4: Using some rope I purchased from Dollar Tree, keep twisting the rope around itself in the shape of a coil, until you create a big circle, which will serve as the pumpkin.  Then, once you have the shape and size of the rope pumpkin, hot glue it down onto the stained paint stick frame. Be sure to wrap the rope around in a circle tightly, hot gluing along the way to secure it in place.  You should not see any gaps in your circle/pumpkin.  Trim away any excess rope.

Step 5:  Using a stick from outside, cut it to size, and hot glue it to the top of the paint stick stained frame so it resembles a stem at the top of your rope pumpkin.

Step 6:  Hot glue some Spanish Moss across the very top of the pumpkin, and on each side of the stem.  Trim away any excess.

Step 7:  Take some greenery of your liking and cut it to fit on each side of the top of your pumpkin.  Next, hot glue the greenery down on each side of the top of the pumpkin, up against the Spanish Moss, but still allowing some Spanish Moss to show through.  Trim away any excess.

Step 8:  Using any pattern or color of your liking, make a bow to go across the top of your pumpkin.  Hot glue the bow to the top of your rope pumpkin.  Trim the ends of the bow off so they hang to about the center of the rope pumpkin. Enjoy!
