How to make a chunky yarn carrot for spring
Hey friend, I’m so glad you stopped by today! Today I’m going to be showing you how to make a chunky yarn carrot for spring. I’m not sure if this chunky yarn came from Michaels or Hobby Lobby but I know you can buy it at either place.
Not only is this craft easy to make but it’s the perfect knickknack to add to your spring décor. I think this chunky yarn carrot would look cute on a shelf or even in one of the ever so popular tiered trays. If you decide to make this craft, I would love to see how you decorate with it.
OK enough chitchat let’s get started on this fun craft!
Materials needed:
- Orange chunky yarn
- foam triangle in the size you wish to use
- knife
- spanish moss
- greenery
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
Step 1: First, shave the wide part of the foam triangle down using a knife. Try to shape it more like a carrot so its not as wide at the bottom.
Step 2: Put some hot glue on the tip of the carrot and hold in place until it sticks. Begin to wrap the chunky yarn up the foam triangle hot glueing as you go. When you get to the top, make sure it is secured with a little extra hot glue.
Step 3: Using the knife, cut a hole in the top of the foam. You want the hole to be deep enough to stuff some greenery in it.
Step 4: Hot glue the greenery in place.
Step 5: Hot glue Spanish moss around the greenery. This will help to hide any messes from the yarn at the top of the carrot. It will also help to add a little extra cuteness.
