How to make a cute carrot using an empty roll of toilet paper

It’s hard to believe that Easter is just around the corner. After being cooped up all winter long, #thankscovid, I am definitely ready for warmer weather and spring decor. If you followed me for any amount of time you know that I love simplicity. So today I’m going to be showing you how to make a cute carrot using an empty roll of toilet paper.

This toilet paper roll carrot is probably one of the simplest crafts I’ve ever shared on this page. In fact, I almost feel silly sharing it it’s that easy. But because I’m all about simplicity I just have to share this one with you. I really think you’re going to love it.

Before we get started, I want to remind you about the jumbo carrot I made last year using a similar technique. You can see the full tutorial on the jumbo carrot HERE.

Materials needed:

  • Sanitized empty roll of toilet paper
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • orange paint
  • antique wax
  • paint brushes
  • greenery
  • Spanish moss

Step one: first cut the toilet paper roll in half lengthwise. Now you should have what looks like a square of thin cardboard.

Step two: Next use your fingers to begin to roll the corner up and make something that looks like a cone. Cut the top of the cone so it is even.

Step three:  hot glue the cone together and squeeze until the glue adheres. It is really important to hold the cone until the glue sticks or everything will come unraveled.

Step four: you can now paint the cone orange or any color that you wish, allow to dry. To make this carrot extra cute you can use some antique wax on top of the orange. That will give your carrot more of a rustic / antique vibe. Make sure all the paint and wax are dry before moving on to step five.

Step five: You can now hot glue greenery and Spanish Moss in the hole at the top of the cone. You can dress this carrot up or down as much as you’d like. I like simplicity, so I decided to keep mine simple. But you could definitely add a cute bow or maybe even a button to dress this up a little bit more.
