Mason Jar Snowman Ornament
Today I am going to share with you how to make this adorable snowman ornament using a mason jar lid. This DIY snowman ornament is the perfect way to add a homemade touch to your Christmas tree decor this year. Along with Christmas tree decor I also think this snowman craft would be adorable to make and tie on the front of Christmas gifts. Let’s get started!
Materials Needed:
- Wide mouth mason jar lid
- Poly- Phil
- Drop cloth or any material you wish
- Twine
- Pine pipe cleaner
- Mod Podge
- White glitter
- Black paint
- orange paint
- Paint brush
- Fabric/ribbon bow
Step 1: First, take the flat insert of the mason jar lid and glue some poly fill to it. One handful should be sufficient.
Step 2: Next, grab a piece of drop cloth and begin to glue it over top the poly fill and glue the drop cloth to the back of the lid.
Step3: take a piece of twine and add a hanger to the rim of the mason jar lid. You can now pop the poly filled insert into the rim of the jar.
Step 4: To clean up the edges around the mason jar I added a piece of pine pipe cleaner.
Step 5: Now, it’s time to add the face to the snowman. To do this I took the back of the paint brush, dipped it in some black paint and dabbed it on for both the eyes and mouth. I always recommend practicing on a scrap piece of paper before you apply it to your project.
Step 6: Once the eyes and mouth are on, I then added a nose and some cheeks. I do recommend applying the blush before you add the nose I forgot to do this, and so I had to add some more paint over top the blush.
Step 7: Next, I applied some mod podge and added some white glitter. I mean, is it even a Christmas craft without glitter?
Step 8: Finally, I made a little bow, using some material for the top of the snowman‘s head.
This craft turned out so cute and was so simple to make. If you plan to make this fun snowman DIY, please let me know. I would love to see a picture.
