Mom’s Cake Frosting Recipe

My mom makes the best frosting for cake! She is unsure where she had originally got the recipe and has tweaked it some over the years. This frosting is so good, at age 27 I still ask for a beater… don’t judge me :p

Mom’s Frosting:

2 egg whites

4 Tbsp. Flour

1 Cup of shortening ( she says crisco tastes the best 😉 )

1 tsp. vanilla

1/4 tsp. Almond extract

1/2 of a 2 pound bag of 10 X sugar or 1 pound,

2-4 Tbsp. Milk

Directions:

Combine everything in a medium size bowl. When adding the milk start with 2 Tbsp. Whip the frosting using a hand held beater. If frosting looks a little on the pasty said add another Tbsp of milk until you get the right consistency, but do not add more than 4 Tbsp of milk. Whip until fluffy and delicious! 🙂

P.S. My 2 year old spread frosting on this cake, not bad for 2! … ok so I helped.. a lot! 😉

* This is excellent to use as a whoopie pie filling!
