Paper Bag Star
Today I’m excited to share with you how to create a patriotic paper bag star using Dollar Tree gift bags. If you remember back at Christmas I made a paper bag snowflake using brown paper lunch bags. This is the same concept with just a few extra steps. Nothing crazy though, I promise!
I think these paper bag stars are a great idea to keep in your back pocket for DIY party ideas. You can create this paper bag craft to go with any style as long as you can find the right color of bags. Check your local Dollar Tree! I am always amazed at the cute bags I find there. Like the rustic matte bags I’ll be using to make todays craft. Let’s get started!
Supplies Needed:
- 9 paper bags ( The ones I’m using from Dollar Tree came in a pack of 3)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks (Affiliate Link)
- Scissors
- Twine
- Whole punch (Affiliate link)
Step 1 : If you are using gift bags you will need to carefully remove the handles. If you are using brown paper bags you can skip this step.
Step 2: Next, using an upside down T shape glue the paper bags together flap side down. I have a great video tutorial at the bottom of this page.
Step 3: Cut the corners off the top of the bags ( the part without the flap)
Step 4: Fan the bags out so the two end bags touch one another. Using the same upside down T method, glue them together.
Step 5: Once the bags are glued together you can add a fun seasonal embellishment to the center of the bag. I added this star that I bought in the craft section at Walmart.
Step 6: To hang your patriotic paper star craft you will need a paper punch and some twine. Punch a hole where two of the bags meet together. Thread some twine through the holes and tie in a knot to secure.
You now have a beautiful patriotic paper bag star that probably took you less than 10 minutes to create. This craft is so much fun and perfect for kids and adults alike!
