Mom’s Chili Recipe
Mom’s Chili Recipe Pin me! – Pinterest Watch me! – YouTube (coming soon) The temperature has practically dropped over night here in Central Pennsylvania. It’s time to take out the air conditioners and make sure the furnace is ready for winter. It must have been pretty chilly, pun intended, in the house this morning because my husband turned on the heat before leaving for work. I think turning on the heat would have been more effective if he would have remembered to close the windows upstairs, but I won’t get into that right now. #men. With the cooler weather comes soup and crockpot season. I thought I’d start things off…

3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies Pin me! – Pinterest Watch me! – Youtube (Coming soon) It seems like I’ve been throwing out DIY posts right and left lately so I think it’s about time for a recipe. I’ve been leafing through some of my Nana’s hand written recipes and found this recipe for 3 ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies. With the holidays just around the corner I thought this would be the perfect recipe post for today. This is such a great recipes to have on hand. It literally takes about 5 minutes to whip up the dough and there’s basically no mess. Not only that, but I almost always have…

Granny’s Baked Beans
Granny’s Baked Beans Pin me – Pinterest Watch me – Youtube Every family has someone who’s famous for that one recipe. In my family it’s my granny and its definitely her baked beans. These famous baked beans are present at all of our family gatherings including my wedding! Everyone who eats these raves about them. I was blessed to have Granny come over and show me all her secrets which I am now sharing with you all! I will warn you though, if you take these baked beans to your next gathering you will unofficially become the baked bean person. Which, actually might not be a bad thing considering…

Hamburger “Boats”
Hamburger “Boats” Watch this recipe – YouTube Pin this recipe – Pinterest My mom made this meal quite often when I was a kid. I remember smelling it cooking while outside playing with the neighborhood kids; praying that yummy smell was coming from our house! Mom would typically serve this meal with some sort of vegetable, so I decided to add some carrots directly to the foil boats instead of using a separate pan for vegetables. One of my favorite things about this dish is the quick and easy clean up. The only dishes that need to be used to make this deliciously simple meal is the pan the “boats”…

BLP (Bacon, Lettuce, Pickled Egg)
BLP ( Bacon, Lettuce, Pickled Egg) Watch this recipe – Youtube Pin this recipe – Pinterest I thought I would keep this week’s recipe super simple. We have been on the go for the past few weeks and I haven’t had much time to edit new recipes. I do have plenty of cool ones coming soon, though! One of my favorite things to eat after a holiday is one of these BLP’s. It’s a delicious way to use up any left-over pickled eggs before they go bad. Normally, I will add leftover turkey to this sandwich, but we had ham instead of turkey this year for Easter. You could add…

S’mores Cheese Ball
S’mores Cheeseball Watch this recipe – (Video coming soon!) Pin this recipe – Pinterest It’s hard for me to think about a S’more without thinking of the smell of a campfire and the sounds of crickets chirping and the stillness of a star-filled sky. S’mores definitely bring me back to being a kid and sitting around the fire pit. It was early on when I learned that there are two kinds of people in the world: Those who like their marshmallows a nice golden brown, and those who like their marshmallows burnt. I happen to be in the “burnt to a crisp” category. If you prefer golden brown, then we can’t…

Turkey Kielbasa Stir Fry
Turkey Kielbasa Stir Fry I mainly share recipes that my family enjoys, but once in awhile I like to share a recipe that I do not particularly care for but has rave reviews by others. One of those is this recipe for Turkey Kielbasas Stir Fry. This is one of my mom’s recipes. She also happens to be a genius in the kitchen, which is probably where I get it from! When I get stuck or need some inspiration I normally turn to her for advice. As mentioned, this is not on my favorite recipes, and it’s mostly due to the fact that it includes onions and peppers. Those…

Stuffed Chicken & Shells Casserole
Stuffed Chicken & Shells Casserole Lately, I’ve been glancing through a lot of the old cookbooks I inherited from my Nana. In one of the books, I came across a recipe for Chicken Stuffed Shells. The recipe looked delicious, however, the directions had more steps than I cared to follow. Since I can sometimes be lazy in the kitchen I decided to simplify this recipe by turning it into a casserole. I liked the idea of the shells but, hated the idea of stuffing each one individually which would take a lot of time. Instead, I decided to use a box of mini shells. Doing it this way not only saved…

Broccoli & Hash Brown Casserole
Broccoli & Hash Brown Casserole When I first started Burlap Kitchen I had no idea what I was doing. I still don’t, but I have learned a lot since starting this blog back in early 2014. I still have a long way to go, but I’m a firm believer in that old saying, “fake it till you make it!” So, until I make it, I will keep watering my dream until I blossom into the creative blogger I dream of being. As I sit here thinking about some of the recipe photos I’ve posted in the past I have to chuckle. Mostly because if I don’t, I’d probably cry from…

White Mountain Cake with Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting
White Mountain Cake with Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting I’m a little behind this month so thankfully I found this recipe that I had never posted this past summer. This recipe is for White Mountain Cake. This cake is very special for me for two reasons. Firstly, this cake recipe comes from a long time family friend who passed away a few years ago. His name was John but everyone called him Jack. He suffered from a stroke when I was a teenager and I’d go to visit him in the nursing home often. I’d always sneak in a coffee and donuts. The stroke had left him unable to speak correctly.…
