XOXO Valentine’s Day Ornaments
Watch me! – YouTube
I normally don’t put up a tree for Valentine’s Day but I decided to put one up this year. I replaced the main Christmas tree that we have in our living room with a smaller tree that we had upstairs. I’m really enjoying the looks of it. There’s just something extra cozy about a lit tree, especially when the snow is falling.
Because I don’t normally put up a tree for Valentine’s Day I am lacking decorations. I plan on spending the next week or two making a few for my tree. I am starting with these wooden XOXO’s that I found at Walmart for $1.27 a piece! They are cheap and with a little TLC quit adorable! Let me show you how I made them!
Materials:
- Wooden XOXO (found these at Walmart for $1.27!)
- Waverly Red Chalk paint
- Waverly White chalk paint
- Waverly Antiquing wax
- paint brushes
- paper towel (to wipe off excess stain)
- twine
- hot glue gun & glue sticks
How To:
* Don’t forget that this is your project! I am going to show you how I did this using the colors I wanted. If you do not like the colors I used please make them to your own liking.
Step 1: Paint the X’s red and the O’s white. Allow the paint to dry.
Step 2: Once the paint is dry it is time to antique them. To do this dip the tip of your paint brush in the antiquing wax and brush it off onto a paper towel. Begin brushing the XOXO sign with the wax. As you are brushing the wax on try to think of where paint would start chipping first, that’s where you want the majority of the wax.
Step 3: Once the paint is dry you can add some string to hang them. I chose to use twine. I just hot glued it to the back of the xoxo sign and it worked just fine.
